Denza's BYD has unveiled its latest electric SUV, the N7, showcasing competitive features and pricing to rival Tesla's Model Y. The live-streamed launch event on Weibo attracted nearly 2 million viewers, highlighting the popularity and expectations surrounding this model.

July 3, 2023 - Denza, the premium brand from BYD, introduced the second-generation N7 electric SUV. This mid-sized crossover SUV comes with a starting price of 301,800 yuan (U$41,649) and is equipped with advanced features such as a self-parking system and Lidar sensors. The N7 boasts a maximum range of 702 kilometers per charge. Deliveries of the N7 are set to begin in about two weeks.

Denza aims to attract premium customers seeking luxurious electric vehicles, aligning with BYD's strategy to expand its product offerings and establish itself as a leading player in the premium EV market.
BYD is recognized for its affordable EV models, priced below 200,000 yuan, which are approximately 30% cheaper than premium models from competitors such as Tesla, Nio, and Xpeng.

Established in 2011 as a 50-50 joint venture between BYD and Daimler, now known as Mercedes-Benz Group, Denza has experienced significant growth. BYD increased its stake to 90% by acquiring a 40% share from Mercedes in January 2022, further solidifying its commitment to Denza's success.

Backed by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, BYD dethroned Tesla as the world's largest EV maker in 2022, fueled by strong sales in mainland China.

Denza has achieved tremendous success with its first electric model, the D9, selling over 10,000 units per month since March. Currently available in Thailand, the D9 is also scheduled for release in Hong Kong, Macao, and Europe, although specific dates have not been disclosed.
