Japan Launches New "Spacia X" Limited Express Train
Tobu Railway, Japan, is set to debut its highly anticipated limited express train, "Spacia X," on July 15th, marking a significant milestone as the first new model car since the inception of the original Spacia in 1990.
Spacia X will operate along the scenic route connecting Asakusa and Tobu Nikko/Kinugawa Onsen. With 2-4 round trips scheduled daily, passengers will have ample opportunities to experience the enhanced service. The express fare will start from 1,940 yen for travel between Asakusa and Tobu Nikko.
In anticipation of a surge in demand amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis,
Tobu Railway expects the number of users to surpass the figures of 2022 by several folds. Additionally, the company foresees a positive impact from inbound visitors to Japan, further contributing to the train's popularity.
Prior to its official launch, a test drive event was organized on both the 6th and 7th of July, allowing enthusiasts to witness the grand entry of Spacia X into Asakusa Station. To enhance the overall travel experience, Tobu Railway introducedcraft beer and other signature products. at the cafe counter in Car 1, known as the "Cockpit Lounge".
Spacia X boasts a total of 212 seats across its 6-car formation, providing ample seating options for passengers. Travelers can choose from six distinct seat types, ranging from standard seats to electric reclining seats and premium seats equipped with reading lights. For those seeking additional comfort and privacy, the train features a lounge area and a private room accommodating up to seven people.
To accommodate the launch of Spacia X, Tobu Railway will transform platform No.5 at Asakusa Station into a dedicated space, ensuring a smooth and seamless boarding experience for passengers.
