Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in December 2022
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in December 2022 totaled 6,346 units, decreasing 16% (MoM), accounting for 11% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 4,750 units, comprising 4,071 HEVs and 679 PHEVs, an increase of 84% (YoY) and 23% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,596 units, a increase of 0.9% (MoM) and rising of 782% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in December 2022 totaled 57,343 units, an increase of 4% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 50,997 units, accounting for 89% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 2%

In December 2022, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 1,111 units, a decrease of 16% (MoM), accounting for 0.6% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 27 HEVs and the growth rate continued to decline. This is the result from the performance and fuel consumption is not different from the ICE car, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 1,084 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 265% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 27 units, decreasing 13% (YoY) and and the number was less than the previous month which 38 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,084 units, an increase of 265% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 1,297 BEV motorcycles were registered.
The new registration for motorcycles in December 2022 totaled 159,588 units, a decrease of 0.2% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 158,477 units, accounting for 99.3% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 1%
