Chonburi: Champions for the largest number of new factories in January 2024

Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 145 new factories nationwide were licensed in January 2024. The employment increased with more 3,403 people hired whereas the total capital was 20,066.88 million baht, increasing from 17,850.24 baht of the previous month.

Chonburi province where 17 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 1,176.00 million baht. 

In January 2024, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Chonburi - There were 17 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,176.00 million baht. The employment increased with 517 more hires. The total machine power was 6,406.54 hp.

2) Samut Prakan - There were 11 new licensed factories with the total capital of 528.80 million baht. The employment increased with 461 more hires. The total machine power was 3,454.83 hp.

3) Samut Sakhon - There were 11 new licensed factories with the total capital of 226.62 million baht. The employment increased with 242 more hires. The total machine power was 9,678.14 hp.

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Suphan Buri with the total capital of 7,371.90 million baht. The Udon Thani followings were Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya at 2,029.50 million baht, Sara Buri at 1,813.02 million baht, Chonburi at 1,736.0 million baht and Lampang at 1,176.00 million baht.
