Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 172 new factories nationwide were licensed in August 2022. The employment increased with more 3,812 people hired whereas the total capital was 9,094.80 million baht, decreasing from 9,373.70 baht of the previous month. 

Samut Sakhon was the province where 22 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 574.57 million baht.

In August 2022, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Samut Sakhon - There were 22 new licensed factories with the total capital of 574.57 million baht. The employment increased with 438 more hires. The total machine power was 5,398.59 hp.

2) Bangkok - There were 12 new licensed factories with the total capital of 3,335.35 million baht. The employment increased with 454 more hires. The total machine power was 5,166.94 hp.

3) Samut Prakan - There were 12 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,384.39 million baht. The employment increased with 933 more hires. The total machine power was 17,973.45 hp.

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Bangkok with the total capital of 3,335.35 million baht. The followings were Samut Prakan at 1,384.39 million baht, Rayong at 789.21 million baht, Samut Sakhon at 574.57 million baht and Chonburi at 387.60 million baht.
