Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in March 2023
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in March 2023 totaled 16,490 units, increasing 11.5% (MoM), accounting for 18% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 9,944 units, comprising 8,766 HEVs, an increase of 21% (YoY) and 1,178 PHEVs, a decrease 9% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 6,546 units, a increase of 15% (MoM) and rising of 892% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in March 2023 totaled 94,172 units, a decrease of 8% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 77,682 units, accounting for 82% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 17%

In March 2023, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 2,325 units, an increase of 20.5% (MoM), accounting for 1.1% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 62 HEVs, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 2,263 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 205% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 62 units, increasing 32% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 86 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 2,263 units, an increase of 205% (YoY) and the number rose from 1,842 units in the previous month.
The new registration for motorcycles in March 2023 totaled 203,915 units, an increase of 20% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 201,590 units, accounting for 99% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 19%
