Thailand Car Production in January 2022 totaled 151,747 units. Export downed 58% due to Chip Shortage.
Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in January and the expected total number for 2022.
Total car production
The January production reached at 151,747 units. It increased 2.45% Year-on-Year (YoY) but decreased 1.70% from December 2021 as 154,368 units. Produced for domestic use increased 19.88% (YoY) representing 49.23% the whole production. Produced passenger cars for export decreased 58.24% (YoY).
Total production of 151,747 vehicles in January 2022, composed of
- Passenger car production at 45,235 units, 15.62% decrease (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at zero, 100% decrease (YoY)
- Truck at 106,512 units, 12.73% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 103,308 units, 11.88% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,204 units, 49.23% increase (YoY)
Car production for export
In January 2022, the car production for export totaled 77,039 units, representing 50.77% of the total production or decreasing 10.21% (YoY)
- 12,519 passenger cars, down 58.24% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 64,520 units, 15.59% decrease (YoY)
Car production for domestic use
In January 2022, there were 74,708 units produced for domestic use, representing 49.23% of the whole production, an increase of 19.88% (YoY)
- 32,716 passenger cars, down 38.44% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 38,788 units, 6.21% increase (YoY)
