Car Production in December 2021 totaled 154,368 units. Total year 1.68 million units.
Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in December 2021 and the forecasted car production in 2022.
Total car production
The December production reached at 154,368 units. It decreased 6.64% from November 2021 but increased 7.89% Year-on-Year (YoY). Produced trucks for export increased 67.68% (YoY) and produced passenger cars for domestic use increased 12.18% (YoY). The production number of this year totaled 1,685,705 units, rising 18.12% from the same period of last year.

- Passenger car production at 50,231 units, 7.22 % decrease (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at zero, 100% decrease (YoY)
- Truck at 104,137 units, 17.13% increase (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 100,662 units, 16.48% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,475 units, 40.06% increase (YoY)
Car production for export
In December 2021, the car production for export totaled 77,592 units, representing 50.26% of the whole production or an increase of 31.19% (YoY)
- 11,893 passenger cars, down 40.42% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 65,699 units, 67.68% increase (YoY)
Car production for domestic use
In December 2021, there were 76,776 units produced for domestic use, representing 49.74% of the total production, decreasing 8.52% (YoY)
- 38,338 passenger cars, up 12.18% (YoY)
- one-ton pickup truck at 34,963 units, 25.99% decrease (YoY)
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) forecasted the car production in 2022 at 1,800,000 units, which could be 800,000 units for domestic and 1,000,000 units for export.
