Car Production in October 2023 totaled 158,734 units
Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in October and the expected total number for 2023.
Total car production
The October production reached at 158,734 units. It decreased 7.02% Year-on-Year (YoY) and decreased 3.27% from September 2023 as 164,093 units. Produced for domestic use decreased 11.65% (YoY) and produced for export decreased 3.57% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export decreased 15.58% (YoY) The production number this year totaled 1,544,705 units, rising 0.65% from the same period of last year.
Total production of 158,734 vehicles in October 2023, composed of:
- Passenger car production at 57,254 units, 3.62% decrease (YoY)
- Internal Combustion Engine at 42,069 units, 19.03% decrease (YoY)
- Battery Electric Vehicle at 2 units
- Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 548 units, 43.27% decrease (YoY)
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 14,635 units, 125.78% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 10 units, 52.38% increase (YoY)
- Truck at 101,470 units, 8.82% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 97,702 units, 9.54% decrease (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,768 units, 14.63% increase (YoY)
Car production for export
In October 2023, the car production for export totaled 94,342 units, representing 59.43% of the total production, decreasing 3.57% (YoY)
- 28,615 passenger cars, down 15.58% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 65,727 units, 2.80% increase (YoY)
Car production for domestic use
In October 2023, there were 64,392 units produced for domestic use, representing 40.57% of the whole production or a decrease of 17.87% (YoY)
- 28,639 passenger cars, 12.26% increase (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 31,975 units, 27.44% decrease (YoY)
