Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in October 2022
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in October 2022 totaled 7,299 units, decreasing 18.8% (MoM), accounting for 10.7% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 5,891 units, comprising 4,992 HEVs and 899 PHEVs, an increase of 123% (YoY) and 85% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,408 units, a increase of 13.7% (MoM) and rising of 543% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in October 2022 totaled 68,083 units, an increase of 23% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 60,784 units, accounting for 89% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 16%

In October 2022, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 596 units, a decrease of 41% (MoM), accounting for 0.4% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 44 HEVs and the growth rate continued to decline. This is the result from the performance and fuel consumption is not different from the ICE car, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 552 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 94% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 44 units, increasing 26% (YoY) and and the number rose from 43 units in the previous month.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 552 units, an increase of 94% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 972 BEV motorcycles were registered.
The new registration for motorcycles in October 2022 totaled 147,635 units, a increase of 16% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 147,039 units, accounting for 99.6% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 16%
