In 2021, the new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in Thailand totaled 40,710 units, increasing 43% (YoY). In December, there were 2,949 units, up 28% (YoY).

The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:

The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in December totaled 2,949 units, increasing 28% (YoY) and a decrease of 3,579 units in the previous month. However, compared to the same month of 2019, the total number of xEV vehicle registrations continued to increase by 95%.

• For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 2,768 units, an increase of 24% (YoY) and a decrease of 3,402 units in the previous month.
• The new registration for BEV totaled 181 units, an increase of 178% (YoY) and rising from 177 units in the previous month, according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.

In December 2021, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 328 units, a decrease of 32%(YoY) and declining from 665 units in the previous month. 

• For HEV, the new registration totaled 31 units, decreasing 90% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 40 HEV motorcycles were registered.  

• The new registration for BEV totaled 297 units, an increase of 63% (YoY) and the number declined from 625 units in the previous month.
