Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in February 2022
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in February 2022 totaled 6,642 units, increasing 24.8% (MoM), accounting for 7.9% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 6,293 units, comprising 5,336 HEVs and 957 PHEVs, an increase of 44% (YoY) and 50% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 349 units, an increase of 159% (YoY) and rising from 264 units in the previous month, according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in February 2022 totaled 83,304 units, an iecrease of 6% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 76,662 units, accounting for 92% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate iecreased by 4%

In February 2022, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 536 units, iecreasing from 365 units in the previous month. Accounting for 0.3% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 27 HEVs and the growth rate continued to decline. This is the result from the performance and fuel consumption is not different from the ICE car, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 509 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 118% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 27 units, decreasing 88% (YoY) and the number was more than the previous year which 20 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 509 units, an increase of 118% (YoY) and the number rose from 345 units in the previous month.
The new registration for motorcycles in February 2022 totaled 163,176 units, an increase of 14% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 162,640 units, accounting for 99.7% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 14%
