Chonburi and Samut Prakan: Champions for the largest number of new factories in June 2023
Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 143 new factories nationwide were licensed in June 2023. The employment increased with more 4,085 people hired whereas the total capital was 18,259.49 million baht, decreasing from 8,126.44 baht of the previous month.
Chonburi - Samut Prakan provinces had the same 13 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 2,219.65 million baht.
In June 2023, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows:
1) Chonburi and Samut Prakan - Both provinces had the same 13 new licenses factories. Chonburi, the total capital was 1,535.29 million baht. The employment increased with 444 more hires. The total machine power was 8,576.53 hp. While Samut Prakan, the total capital was 684.36 million baht. The employment increased with 415 more hires. The total machine power was 3,848.44 hp.
2) Phatthalung - There were 9 new licensed factories with the total capital of 30.20 million baht. The employment increased with 18 more hires. The total machine power was 1,645.00 hp.
3) Samut Sakhon - There were 8 new licensed factories with the total capital of 182.04 million baht. The employment increased with 315 more hires. The total machine power was 2,570.28 hp.
However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Chachoengsao with the total capital of 8,842.74 million baht. The followings were Chonburi at 1,535.29 million baht, Uttaradit at 1,402.70 million baht, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya at 1,183.41 million baht and Saraburi at 1,097.92 million baht.
