Newly registered xEV electric vehicles in November 2021, up 16% from the same period last year

The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:

The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in November totaled 3,579 units, increasing 16% (YoY) and a increase of 2,943 units in the previous month. However, compared to the same month of 2019, the total number of xEV vehicle registrations continued to increase by 51%.

For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 3,402 units, an increase of 13% (YoY), comprising HEV at 2,796 and PHEV at 646 units.
The new registration for BEV totaled 177 units, an increase of 146% (YoY) but declining from 219 units in the previous month, according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.

In November 2021, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 665 units, an increase of 71%(YoY) and rising from 319 units in the previous month. Though the HEV new registration decreased tremendously at 82%, BEV made an increase of 286%

Comparing with the statistics of the same month in 2019, the new BEV registration increased 745% whereas that of HEV decreased 90%. This is the result from the increasing public interest for BEV. Nevertheless, the registration number from both types is higher 38% than that of the same month in 2019.

For HEV, the new registration totaled 40 units, decreasing 82% (YoY) and the number was more than the previous year which 35 HEV motorcycles were registered.
The new registration for BEV totaled 625 units, an increase of 286% (YoY) and the number rose from 332 units in the previous month.
