Samut Prakan: Champions for the largest number of new factories in May 2023
Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 143 new factories nationwide were licensed in May 2023. The employment increased with more 3,936 people hired whereas the total capital was 8,126.44 million baht, decreasing from 8,313.92 baht of the previous month.
Samut Prakan provinces had the same 18 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 611.01 million baht.
In May 2023, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows:
1) Samut Prakan - There were 18 new licensed factories with the total capital of 611.01 million baht. The employment increased with 1,067 more hires. The total machine power was 4,435.32 hp.
2) Chonburi - There were 11 new licensed factories with the total capital of 382.75 million baht. The employment increased with 271 more hires. The total machine power was 3,233.20 hp.
3) Nakhon Pathom - There were 11 new licensed factories with the total capital of 376.30 million baht. The employment increased with 230 more hires. The total machine power was 3,466.09 hp.
However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya with the total capital of 2,166.00 million baht. The followings were Nakhon Sawan at 913.65 million baht, Prachin Buri at 836.91 million baht, Samut Prakan at 611.01 million baht and Pathum Thani at 502.38 million baht.
