Chonburi: Champions for the largest number of new factories in December 2023

Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 145 new factories nationwide were granted licenses in December 2023, with an increase in employment of 3,969 people. The total capital also rose to 19,649.09 million baht, up from the previous month's 17,850.24 million baht.

Chonburi province had the highest number of new factory openings at 17, with a total investment of 1,477.00 million baht. Throughout the year, there were a total of 1,794 new factory registrations nationwide, with a capital of 228,092.30 million baht and an increase in employment of 54,473 people.

Chonburi province where 21 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 1,736.09 million baht. 

In December 2023, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Chonburi - There were 17 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,477.00 million baht. The employment increased with 753 more hires. The total machine power was 7,453.31 hp.

2) Pathum Thani -There were 13 new licensed factories with the total capital of 679.13 million baht. The employment increased with 248 more hires. The total machine power was 1,795.60 hp.

3) Rayong - There were 13 new licensed factories with the total capital of 466.36 million baht. The employment increased with 375 more hires. The total machine power was 5,922.86 hp.

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Saraburi with the total capital of 5,290.40 million baht. The followings were Nonthaburi at 4,607.82 million baht, Phranakorn Sri Ayutthaya at 2,183.75 million baht, Chonburi at 1,477.0 million baht and Samut Prakarn at 1,299.04 million baht.
