Chonburi: Champions for the largest number of new factories in January 2023

Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 126 new factories nationwide were licensed in January 2023. The employment increased with more 3,412 people hired whereas the total capital was 9,050.69 million baht, decreasing from 10,000.92 baht of the previous month. 

Chonburi was the province had the same 16 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 1,300.10 million baht.

In January 2023, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Chonburi - There were 16 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,300.10 million baht. The employment increased with 658 more hires. The total machine power was 19,735.02 hp.

2) Samut Prakan - There were 13 new licensed factories with the total capital of 936.16 million baht. The employment increased with 480 more hires. The total machine power was 3,618.33 hp.

3) Rayong - There were 12 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,471.37 million baht. The employment increased with 774 more hires. The total machine power was 4,549.81 hp.

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Samut sakhon with the total capital of 1,867.63 million baht. The followings were Rayong at 1,471.37 million baht, Chonburi at 1,300.10 million baht, Samut Prakan at 936.16 million baht and Chumphon at 1,468.57 million baht.
