The technologies in ‘German High Tech in Metal Working Pavilion’ are very special and can directly provide answers to our industrialists’ needs.
Mr. Thomas Bareiss, Parliamentary State Secretary, from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) will inaugurate the partner country participation of Germany.
Imports of machinery for the metalworking industry from January to September 2019 reached 39 billion baht. From Germany alone, the value was 1.9 billion for the first three quarters of 2018 and grew to 3.1 billion baht during the same period of 2019. This represented a growth of 63%, revealing the need for high precision machinery that Germany is one of the leading suppliers and has expertise that is needed in Thailand.
48 companies joining in German High Tech in Metal Working Pavilion, revealing “umati,” universal machine tool interface for the first time in Asia
The German participants in METALEX 2019 have a great deal to offer. 48 leading German companies from the metalworking and machine tool industries are exhibiting under the theme of "German High Tech in Metal Working." Visitors will experience German cutting-edge technologies as well as the revelation of “umati” or universal machine tool interface, a new standard that will be discussed in a forum. On an exhibition area of around 1,200 square meters, companies such as Alfred H. Schütte GmbH & Co. KG, Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Gühring KG, MAPAL Fabrik für Präzisionswerkzeuge Dr. Kress KG and Siemens AG will present their products in Hall 99 at BITEC, Bangkok, from 20 to 23 November 2019. The Pavilion was initiated by the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW) and is being staged by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Energy (BMWi) and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) in cooperation with Messe Stuttgart.
German high technologies are spotlighted on show floor
The German Pavilion shows everything the industry has to offer with German innovations from 48 exhibitors, including such globally renowned brands as Siemens, Chiron, Emuge Franken, Gühring, Schütte, FFG, Zoller, Index Traub, Mapal and Grob. The 48 companies will display the entire range of machine tools and accessories, tools and tool handling, sheet metal forming, mold and die, precision measuring and testing to controller and computer systems. Highlights include Multi-Spindle Automatics, SG18 40-01, from Alfred H. Schuette Gmbh & Co. KG, that is extremely fast cam-controlled for turned part production up to a diameter of 20 mm. and a machine center from Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH who display a 5-axis machining center, HF 3500, that provides high stability for 5-sided machining with positioned rotary axes and dynamics with simultaneous 5-axis machining.
In addition to the machine tools, the unifying element of all displays is Industry 4.0 and digital solutions to lead the industry in the next decade. With digital and software solutions it is ensured that speed and precision will deliver successes to customers.
umati, universal machine tool interface, to be presented for the first time in Asia
Another highlight of the German participation will be a special forum discussing umati (universal machine tool interface) which will be presented for the first time in Asia. umati can integrate machine tools and factories’ IT and ecosystem safely, seamlessly and effortlessly. This standard is not only intended for Germany, but can be utilized by users all over the world. Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director of the VDW, said: "We are delighted that Germany is the partner country of METALEX and that so many renowned German manufacturers are taking part in the industry exhibition. It is an ideal platform for our companies to demonstrate their efficiency to business partners in the ASEAN region. The VDW will also use this forum to present the standardized interface umati for communication between machine tools and higher-level IT systems. The interface should really gather momentum straightaway and be distributed internationally as a standard via the OPC UA Foundation."
The special show umati@METALEX will demonstrate how umati ensures the simple and easy flow of data between machine tools and software systems. Three machines will be integrated in the special show for a live demonstration of production. Visitors will be able to see a DMG Mori DMU 50, a Trumpf marking laser and a Heller Profitrainer. Just like at the most recent umati showcase at EMO in Hanover in 2019, machines not on the trade fair grounds in Thailand will be connected, e.g. from the Swiss machine tool manufacturer Tornos. In its capacity as a strategic partner from the IT industry, SAP will also show how umati helps to the improve the company's services. The data are collected at a neutral dashboard via a central data hub hosted by T-Systems and can also be directly read out using the umati app.
During the associated umati@METALEX Forum, experts from the participating companies and institutions (DMG Mori, Heller, ISW, SAP, Trumpf, VDW) will provide an insight into concepts, ideas and applications of umati to the benefit of different customer industries throughout the show days of the event.
