COUNTDOWN TO THE APEC CEO SUMMIT 2022 The Forum for Asia Pacific Business Leaders Together with PwC as the Exclusive Knowledge Partner and Provider of Business Insights.

The APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) is ready to host the APEC CEO Summit 2022, the premier forum for business leaders from 21 member economies to share their vision and engage in dialogue about the future. Dr PojAramwattananont, Chairman of the APEC CEO Summit 2022 and ABAC Thailand Member, and KasemsitPathomsak, Executive Director of the APEC CEO Summit 2022 and ABAC Thailand Alternate Member, both expressed confidence in terms of the themes, organisation and business insight support for the landmark summit, which is scheduled to be held from November 16 to 18, 2022. PwC will serve as the exclusive knowledge partner providing business insight support for the summit.

Dr. PojAramwattananont said that the Thai private sector is ready to welcome business leaders to the summit under the theme “Embrace, Engage, Enable.” The APEC CEO SUMMIT will see a gathering of the world’s top CEOs, APEC leaders, policy makers and thought leaders from 21 member economies. The summit will be the stage for leaders to share their vision and join forces in driving global trade and economic growth — a perfect opportunity to search for solutions to current and present issues and to the various business challenges faced by the Asia-Pacific region and the world. The main summit will be held at the Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Hotel Bangkok. The venue’s convenient location near the other APEC 2022-related meetings and functions will help the participants to avoid the traffic. The welcoming reception on November 16, 2022 will be held at the River Park, Icon Siam, while the gala dinner on November 17, 2022, will be held at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon.

“This year’s summit will be the first for prominent economists and business leaders to meet in person. More than 10 leaders from the APEC member economies will give keynote speeches on topics that are of high public interest. The programme will also include panel discussions among thought leaders and distinguished speakers on the issues that will help chart the direction of the world’s economy. It is a great opportunity for Thailand to play host to the remarkable trade and investment convention. The summit will be a chance for the Thai private sector to display to the world our potential, whether in food security, investment, tourism, or finance. For this reason, the business sector is encouraging young entrepreneurs around Thailand to take part in organising the event. This outreach is crucial as the younger generations will play a key role in driving the country’s economy in the future,” Dr Poj said.

Mr. KasemsitPathomsak said that the organising committee has put a lot of thought on sustainability in designing the summit’s content and format. “We designed the summit to be a ‘green meeting.’ The events will be environmentally friendly, with materials and resources to be reused and recycled to ensure maximum benefits and minimal ecological impact. The format is in line with the sustainability philosophy which is one of ABAC’s five working strategies. The ‘green meeting’ concept will be reflected in every aspect of the summit — from the choice of venue, documentation, device arrangements and catering to the calculation of carbon footprint which will boost awareness in energy saving and waste reduction. The green focus is particularly meaningful as business leaders around the world are united in their agreement that there is an urgent need to take care of the environment and pay attention to the issue of sustainability. Throughout the meeting, the participants will be guided by a mobile application guaranteeing smart hospitality.”

“As we are determined to stimulate a comprehensive and profound exchange of opinions, the three-day programme is packed with both speeches and points for discussion. The goal is to allow the voice of the private sector to reach policymakers and help drive the economy in the same direction. More importantly, the summit will be a show of force for business leaders in their capacity as members of the Asia Pacific community, and a demonstration of the willingness to learn from one another and forge cooperation among the 21 member economies,” Mr. Kasemsit said.

Sharing insights and exchanging productive ideas is the aim of the 2022 APEC CEO Summit, where the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) will collaborate with PwC, who will again serve as the exclusive ‘Knowledge Partner’. PwC plans to spark conversations among delegates at the event that provide valuable insights into conducting business, economic activities and investment. PwC will draw upon the knowledge and experiences of its professionals who are committed to deliver quality results in its Assurance, Tax & Legal, and Consulting services.

Mr. Chanchai Chaiprasit, PwC Thailand CEO, said of the Summit collaboration, “We’re honoured to serve in this prestigious role for the 13th year. As the Knowledge Partner of this year’s APEC CEO Summit, we’ll spark discussions among business leaders about major issues that our region is facing today. These include APEC’s economic recovery amid accelerating inflation and environmental hurdles. We’ll also take a close look at ways businesses can prepare to overcome these challenges so they can build trust among stakeholders and grow sustainably.”
