"Taiwan Excellence" shows off the best innovations Taiwan Excellence products launched under the concept “Change the World with Automation Solutions from Taiwan” at Manufacturing Expo 2022

On June 22, 2022, the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs together with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized the launch of Taiwan Excellence products under the concept. “Change the World with Taiwan Automation Solutions” introduces five leading companies and presents Taiwan's best award-winning innovative products at Manufacturing Expo 2022 on 22-25 June.

Taiwan Excellence Award is the trademark given to Taiwan's best innovative products and high quality. The eligible companies are subjected to a rigorous and stringent selection system that covers four major aspects of “R&D”, “Design”, “Quality” and “Marketing” to identify outstanding products that offer “Innovative Value” while satisfying the key criterion of being “made in Taiwan”.

The Taiwan Excellence Awards were established by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1993 with the concept of “Taiwan Excellence Everyday Excellence” and is the chosen partner for Taiwan’s most innovative industry leaders to provide the world with first choice products for everyday life of everyone and everywhere.

The product launch, under the concept of “Change the World with Taiwan Automation Solutions” was honored by Mr. Nick Ni, Director of Economic Division from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, with his welcome remarks.

Mr. Nick Ni revealed that Taiwan Excellence, the symbol of Taiwan's best products, is back at the Manufacturing Expo after 3 years. Thailand and Taiwan are close in terms of the trading relationship. Taiwan is ranked as number 10 of Thailand's partners and also the fifth supplier. Among these imports, machinery and manufacturing related products accounted for almost 19%, ranking as the second largest sector, which shows Taiwanese machines have been highly recognized by Thailand’s industries.

The five innovative industrial automation solutions, SOLOMON, Techman Robot, TOYO, TBI Motion, and PLANET Technology that received the Taiwan Excellence awards were introduced and presented to Thai buyers, both in the press conference and exhibiting area of Taiwan Excellence award-winning products at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion throughout the event of Manufacturing Expo 2022, which has the highlights of each technology as follows.

SOLOMON - AI and 3D Vision for Smart Manufacturing and Logistics

Solomon Technology presents the AccuPick 3D Vision Software System, an automated in-line and warehouse order picking system that integrates machine vision, artificial intelligence and 3D scanning together

The highlight of the SOLOMON AccuPick 3D Vision Software System is the ability to quickly pick up unsorted workpieces. The result of Solvision AI Inspection Software uses deep learning technology to help solve vision problems. It helps machines learn 8 times faster than conventional vision systems. The important thing is that there is no need to waste time writing the programs.

Mr. Sompong Lertpolpairoj, Sales Manager of SP Vision Technology, the distributor of SOLOMON Technology said during the press conference that Machine Vision robots have eyes to see and can work like humans. As a result, robotics and automation are the next steps that every company must implement especially in the automotive, metallurgy and logistics industries. In addition, the outbreak of COVID-19 also catalyzes the market demand for more automation as well as the pressure from the transition to the electric vehicle era where many carmakers announced plans to produce EVs (electric vehicles) in Thailand. It seems the auto parts manufacturers in Thailand have adjusted and adapted to respond to this trend as well. 

Techman Robot - Why Automation with Cobots

Techman Robot presents the TM5 cobot, designed as an intelligent, easy-to-use and safe robot that won the Taiwan Excellence award. Techman’s vision for robotics always focuses on eliminating the limitation of traditional robotics and has always set the new standard for the robots that can interoperate with production systems in different industries.

The TM5 is the world's first cobot with built-in vision. It is attached to a mechanical arm which makes it easy to use, reduces costs and shortens installation time. Users can teach the robot by moving the TM5's arms and hands directly.

Ms. Francine Chu, Regional Sales Manager of Techman Robot, revealed that the company was founded in 2019 and rose to the No. 2 player in the cobot market in just three years. The TM5 could weigh 4 kg and 6 kg with a built-in vision system. For inspecting low-quality parts, scanning barcodes, QR codes, and other quality inspections, the TM5 also offers other series for heavier workpieces and it has been proven by many leading companies in metal processing plants, plastic injection and rubber molding including various automatic production lines around the world.

Ms. Chu added that one of the keys to the popularity of Cobots is because of the ease of use. So users do not need a lot of engineering background. It also works with humans safely. In the past two years, Thailand has been affected by coronavirus. causing many companies to lack automation specialists while cobots are innovations that have the potential to fill in the gaps in this area. Techman is also looking for partners in Thailand to be another force to support the Thai industry toward automation.

TOYO - Take Your Production to the Next level with Smarter Manufacturing Solutions

TOYO Robot Co., Ltd., TOYO desktop robot, one of the company's many products that won the Taiwan Excellence award, was exhibited this time. TOYO Robot is a robot manufacturer with a wide product line-up, including the Actuator Module, Robot One Axis, Desktop/XY Gantry System, AGV, etc. for various production lines such as medical precision components, printed circuit board inspection, scooter assembly line and the automatic USB assembly line.

The highlight of the TOYO desktop robot is its Ball Screw accuracy up to ±0.005um, while other brands have the same level of accuracy of  0.008um~0.01um In addition, TOYO desktop robot offers both servo motor and step motor options with CAD support. 

Mr. Stefan Yang, Sales Manager of TOYO Robot (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said that the company's success is the result of research and development of high quality products at reasonable prices in order to be able to meet the needs of customers. The customers always accept TOYO products because of the high accuracy and stability that can be used for a long time, easy maintenance and low maintenance costs. Mr. Yang also reveals his view on the manufacturing industry in Thailand that currently, the Chinese manufacturers are moving their production bases to ASEAN which gives Thailand an advantage in this area. In addition, the demand for automation in Thailand continues to grow and TOYO sees this as a good opportunity. 

TBI Motion - The application of TBI products in Thailand’s manufacturing industry

TBI Motion Technology introduces several Taiwan Excellence award-winning products, Ball Screw and Linear Guide models, with the SFYA1632 High Lead Ball Screw being the award-winning 2022 model.

The highlight of the Ball Screw and Linear Guide from TBI Motion is the efficient ball screw design, resistance to temperature changes, high precision, and ease to use.

For the SFYA1632 High Lead Ball Screw, the product design concept is different from the conventional ball screw that uses a thin, flexible material to strengthen it and comes with a strong spindle structure that can provide high speed. In addition, the SFYA1632 can achieve a maximum speed of 24000RPM and a 5% increase in overall service life, making it suitable for high-speed machine applications and automatic machines.

Speaking as representative of TBI Motion Technology, General Manager of LV Automation, Mr. Kelvin Chu said that although the Ball Screw and Linear Guides are seemingly basic products, in fact, a lot of knowledge is required. PLANET Technology presented the Industrial 5G NR IoT Gateway Series Industrial Network Infrastructure Solution at the press conference, the product received Taiwan Excellence Award in 2022, to help traditional manufacturers and small business operators build industrial networks more easily.
